Santorini Helicopter Tour: 20 Minutes Over the Caldera to Oia

A Santorini helicopter tour gives you the view the island is famous for, from the one angle you cannot get from a terrace: the whole flooded caldera at once. You cross the water past the dark volcanic islands of Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni, fly along the white cliff towns of Fira and Imerovigli, then circle slowly near the blue domes of Oia.

The Santorini hub has one flight: a small shared Bell 206 helicopter with just four seats, so everyone is close to a window.

The Santorini caldera helicopter flight

Santorini Caldera 20-Minute Shared Helicopter Tour, from €339 per person. About 20 minutes in the air. From the helipad near Santorini Airport the route heads toward Kamari and Akrotiri, crosses the caldera past Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni, follows the cliffs at Fira and Imerovigli, and makes an orbit near Oia before returning to the same helipad for a photo stop. The price includes the safety briefing and aviation headsets. Allow about 35 minutes at the helipad in total. The route may vary slightly with conditions.

Before you go

  • Where: a privately owned, approved helipad about five minutes from Santorini Airport; check-in, take-off, landing and the photo stop all happen there, not at a hotel or villa. A transfer can be arranged but is not included. The exact meeting time is confirmed after booking.
  • Minimum group: the flight needs at least 3 passengers to operate and takes no more than 4.
  • Who can fly: not suitable for children under 2. Not suitable for anyone over 115 kg (254 lbs), and weight limits may apply for balance, so you give each traveller’s weight when you book.
  • Bags: travel light; large bags are not allowed.
  • Cancellation: free up to 24 hours before for a full refund. If weather or safety rules stop the flight, you get a full refund. There is no landing on the way, only the photo stop back at the helipad.
