Fira

Fira is Santorini’s main cliff-edge town, with white buildings packed along the caldera rim above a steep drop to the water. From the cable-car terrace you see the harbour below and a slice of the caldera. From a helicopter the whole cliff line opens at once, with Imerovigli further along the rim and the volcanic islands out in the bay. On the Santorini hub, Fira is a named sight on the shared caldera flight, passed at eye level along the cliffs.

The Santorini Caldera 20-Minute Shared Helicopter Tour is the flight that includes it. You spend about 20 minutes in the air in a shared Bell 206 helicopter, from €339 per person. After Akrotiri and the crossing past Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni, the route runs along Fira and Imerovigli toward the orbit near Oia, then returns via the Kamari side to the helipad. Window views are part of the shared cabin layout. Allow about 35 minutes on site for briefing, flight and photo stop.

The flight is shared and limited to 4 participants. A minimum of 3 passengers is required for the flight to operate. There is no landing in Fira and no ground time in town; the cliffs are a sight from above as the helicopter continues along the rim. Do not expect a stop at the cable car or a timed hover over the harbour. Fira is one stretch of the caldera cliff route, not a separate city tour. Eye-level views of the cliff villages are part of how the route is described, so the pass along Fira is meant to be close enough to read the terraces without circling one roof.

Meet at the privately owned approved helipad about five minutes from Santorini Airport. The same pad is used for check-in, takeoff, landing and the post-flight photo stop — not a hotel or villa pad. An optional transfer to or from the helipad can be arranged; it is not included by default. The exact meeting time is confirmed after booking. The activity starts and ends at the same approved helipad. Operating months are not stated as a fixed season; use the booking calendar to check dates and start times. Available start times show when you book. If you need a transfer to the pad, arrange it when you book rather than expecting a default hotel pickup. The flight returns to the same pad, so your own transport plans should cover both arrival and departure from that single meeting point.

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before for a full refund. Flights depend on suitable weather and aviation safety rules. The route may vary slightly with conditions. If your flight cannot go ahead for weather or safety reasons, you receive a full refund. Not suitable for children under 2 years. Not suitable for people over 115 kg (254 lbs); weight restrictions may apply for balance.

To take in Fira’s cliffs as part of a 20-minute caldera flight, book the Santorini shared helicopter tour on the Santorini hub. The next village along the same rim is Imerovigli. Live prices are shown when you book.
