Nea Kameni is the dark volcanic island in the middle of Santorini’s caldera, a bare lava cone rising from the water with little green cover. From a boat you see one flank at a time. From a helicopter the whole island sits in the caldera bowl, with Palea Kameni beside it and the cliff towns on the far rim. After leaving the helipad near Kamari and passing Akrotiri, the route crosses the caldera above Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni, then continues along Fira and Imerovigli toward the orbit near Oia. Window views are part of the shared cabin layout. Allow about 35 minutes on site for briefing, the flight and a photo stop at the helipad.
The flight is shared and limited to 4 participants. A minimum of 3 passengers is required for the flight to operate. There is no landing on Nea Kameni and no walk on the crater; the island is a sight from above as the route continues. Do not expect a stop on the lava or a set number of minutes hovering over the cone. The time over any one island is brief within the overall 20 minutes aloft. The exact line across the caldera can shift slightly with weather and air traffic. Champagne, flowers or a photographer can be arranged as extras on request; they are not part of the standard shared fare.
Meet at the privately owned approved helipad about five minutes from Santorini Airport. The same pad is used for check-in, takeoff, landing and the post-flight photo stop — not a hotel or villa pad. An optional transfer to or from the helipad can be arranged; it is not included by default. The exact meeting time is confirmed after booking. Most guests make their own way to the helipad; the optional transfer is arranged on request rather than included as a hotel pickup. Check availability for dates and start times rather than assuming a fixed daily slot. Bring only what you need in the cabin. Pets, smoking, alcohol and fireworks are not allowed on the activity.
