The Bengstkär lighthouse was built in 1906 on the island of Bengstkär, which is located in the archipelago in the Gulf of Finland.
The lighthouse marks the passage between the Finnish Gulf and the Eastern Sea. As well as the most southern part of Finland.
The plans for the Bengstkär lighthouse were made after the SS Helsingfors sunk in the Gulf of Finland in 1905. The lighthouse was completed a year later in 1906, counting 252 steps to the top that housed a special glass lantern which was designed and made in Paris. The lamp was first ignited on December 19th 1906. The powerful beam flashed three times every 20 seconds and can be seen from twenty seamless away.
