Slottsskogen park was founded in 1842 and contains a mix of open areas, forests, lakes and ponds. It is a popular visitor attraction, with around two million people passing through it each year. It includes several features, such as a rose garden, an open-air theatre and a playground. There are also several restaurants and cafes in the park. Slottsskogen has been used for a variety of purposes over the years. It has been a military drill ground, a royal hunting ground and a botanical garden. The park was opened to the public in 1842 and admission to visit the park is free.
