An impenetrable wilderness of snowfields, mountains, open valleys and glaciers.
Located on the South Island is the Mount Aspiring National Park. Because of its location, it is one of the least developed national parks in New Zealand. The nature here remains unspoilt and wild, making it a true paradise for adventurers. You'll be amazed by the rugged mountains and glaciers that you can explore while hiking. Or you can opt for a boat trip or helicopter trip to take in the amazing sights this park has to offer.
Mount Aspiring National Park is part of the ahipounamu World Heritage Site and the heart of the park is an impenetrable wilderness of snowfields, mountains, open valleys and glaciers. You can even find Beech forests in the west and grassy floodplains in the east. The Maori used to call Mt Aspiring "Tititea," meaning "steep, glistening, white peak." Apart from Mt Aspiring, Mt Pollux and Mt Breewster are also located in the park.
