The Haringvliet is a Dutch tidal landscape and protected nature reserve just below the city of Rotterdam.
It is the intention that thousands of species of migratory birds, including the osprey, will settle here in the future. Since 2019, the Haringvliet sluices have been opened again (when it is safe) so that saltwater and migratory fish such as salmon and sturgeon can find their way back in to help restore the ecosystem. And add more biodiversity to the area. In a beautiful bird observatory, people can study birds up close without disturbing them and by taking a water bus the Haringvliet is easily reached from the heart of Rotterdam and visit the idyllic villages.
