Ait Ben Haddou is a fortified town that dates back tot he medieval times.
It lies in the region of Souss-Massa-Draâ and lies on the western bank of the Asif Ounila river. Ait Ben Haddou is famous for its beautiful kasbahs. The kasbahs are clay fortresses which are built against the hill and are collectively called the ksar.
Ait Ben Haddou was founded by the Berber people around the year 750 under the lead of Ben-Haddou. It is dais that this man is buried somewhere within the ksar. Ait Ben Haddou flourished as a trade hub between the Sahara and Marrakesh.
