The coastal suburb of Sydney named after the manly aboriginals who resided there
Manly Cove is a coastal suburb of Sydney, located in the North Harbour near the Manly Gold Club and Sydney Harbour National Park. The name was given to the area by Captain Arthur Philip, who found the indigenous people so confident in their manly behaviour, that it earned the name Manly Cove.
Manly is located approximately 17 kilometres from the Sydney central business district. The area is a much-loved tourist destination because of its attractive setting on the Pacific Ocean, the national park and the fact that it is easily accessible by ferry. Manly Beach offers a calm, sheltered waterside location with soft sand and plenty of space for swimming and playing in the waves. It also offers plenty of shops, restaurants bars and nightclubs. Other beaches in the area are Queenscliff, North Steyne and South Steyne.
