A Bora Bora scenic flight shows you the whole lagoon at once: the coral belt that rings the island, the colour of the water inside it, and, as the route allows, the motus and overwater hotels along its edge. You fly low and slow, at about 400 metres, in a private light aircraft.
Both flights on the Bora Bora hub are private, just you and the pilot. The 30-minute flight makes a complete circuit of the island, and the 45-minute flight adds Tupai, the heart-shaped atoll about 15 km to the north.
What you see on a Bora Bora scenic flight
You take off from the airport on Motu Mute and follow the coral belt at about 400 metres. Below you are the shades of the lagoon, coconut-palm beaches and, where the route passes them, the roofs of the luxury hotels on the motus, with the island’s volcanic silhouette in the middle of it all.
Two private Bora Bora flights
- Bora Bora 30-Minute Private Light Aircraft Flight, from USD 280 per person. A full island circuit over the lagoon and the coral belt. You do not land.
- Bora Bora & Tupai Atoll Private Light Aircraft Flight (45 min), from USD 373 per person. About 25 minutes over Bora Bora and its lagoon, then about 15 km north for a loop around Tupai, and home with Bora Bora ahead of you for a few more photographs. You do not land on Tupai. An edited video of your flight can be added when you book, at extra cost.
Landing and facility fees are included on both. The aircraft carries the pilot and one passenger, so if you are travelling as a couple or a family, you fly one after another and wait at the airport cafeteria between flights. You will not share the view from the same cabin, which is worth knowing before you book.
