A Denali scenic flight from Talkeetna puts you over North America’s highest peak and the ice of the Alaska Range. From a shared airplane you may see Denali, Kahiltna Glacier, and the ice walls of Ruth Glacier and the Great Gorge, weather permitting. On the South Side ticket you can also land on glacier ice at Sheldon Amphitheater when conditions allow.
The Denali / Talkeetna hub has four shared airplane flights from Talkeetna State Airport: a summer glacier-landing entry from USD 442, two longer summer flightseeing rungs, and a winter-only explorer. Summit views and landings are weather-dependent; a park pass may apply for ages 16+ when a landing proceeds.
Which Denali scenic flight to book
- Denali South Side Glacier Landing Airplane Tour, from USD 442 per person. About 120 minutes total including a South Side glacier landing when weather allows. You may see Denali, Ruth Glacier and the Great Gorge, and Sheldon Amphitheater. When a landing proceeds, a Denali park pass of about USD 15 for ages 16+ is often not included in the ticket.
- Denali Mountain Voyager Airplane Tour, from USD 469 per person. About 75 to 105 minutes in the air on a deeper Alaska Range path. You may see Kahiltna Glacier and Denali when routing allows. Air-only from-price; some booking choices add a glacier landing at a higher live tier.
- Denali Grand Flightseeing Airplane Tour, from USD 586 per person. About 90 to 120 minutes over Denali country — the longest named summer rung. Soft summit and glacier framing along the scenic route, with Denali and Kahiltna Glacier in view when the path allows.
- Denali Winter Explorer Airplane Tour, from USD 381 per person. About 60 minutes in the air, seasonal October to mid-March only. Soft snow-peak framing of Denali country, weather permitting. Overflight only — not the year-round summer entry.
Want glacier ice under your boots when weather allows? Take the South Side landing. Want more air time without assuming a landing? Take Mountain Voyager or Grand. Flying in winter? Book the seasonal explorer.
Before you go
- Where: Talkeetna State Airport on E. Second Street in Talkeetna. Plan about 45 minutes before departure unless your voucher says otherwise. Some options can arrange local hotel or lodge pickup within a few miles — confirm on your voucher. Outside that radius, make your own way. Exact check-in time is confirmed after booking.
- Seats: shared cabin up to about 10; empty seats may be sold to other guests.
- Children: infants typically fly on an adult’s lap. Adult price bands often start at age 12 — confirm the age bands on your option when you book.
- Weight: passenger weight may be collected when you book. A public hard cabin weight limit is not stated on the listing pages — follow check-in guidance.
- Landings: only the South Side ticket includes a glacier landing when weather allows. The other three are overflights (Grand and Voyager may offer landing add-ons on some booking choices at a higher live price).
- Cancellation: full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled start. Glacier landings and summit views are weather-dependent; weather cancellations typically offer a refund or rebooking. Flexible dates early in your stay help.
