A Loire Valley hot air balloon flight from Amboise gives you about an hour drifting over château country: Château d’Amboise, Château de Chenonceau, Chaumont-sur-Loire, the Cher Valley and the Loire vineyards in between. You fly at sunrise or at sunset, and the wind decides where you take off.
Both flights on the Loire Valley hub are the same hour in a shared basket for the same price, from €255 per person. Your choice is morning or evening light, and whether you want hotel pickup.
What you see on a Loire Valley balloon flight
A 4×4 takes you to a field chosen on the day by the wind, near Amboise, Chenonceau or Chaumont-sur-Loire. You watch the balloon inflate, then fly for about an hour. Because the wind sets the route, which château you pass closest to changes from one flight to the next; the listings name Château de Chenonceau, Château d’Amboise and the Loire vineyards on both, with the Cher Valley on the sunrise flight and Chaumont-sur-Loire on the sunset one.
After landing you toast with sparkling wine or grape juice, and a cellar tasting in Amboise is listed as included.
Sunrise or sunset: the two Amboise balloon flights
- Loire Valley Amboise Sunrise Hot Air Balloon Tour, from €255 per person. You meet about 30 minutes before sunrise at l’Île d’Or, or take the listed hotel pickup from your Amboise hotel.
- Loire Valley Amboise Sunset Hot Air Balloon Tour, from €255 per person. You meet in front of the l’Île d’Or campsite about three hours before sunset. There is no hotel pickup on this ticket.
If you are staying in Amboise and do not want to find the meeting point in the dark, the sunrise ticket with hotel pickup is the easier morning. If you would rather not set an alarm, the sunset flight gives you the same hour in the air.
