This early-morning ride starts with free pickup from local camps in Wadi Rum or from Wadi Rum Visitor Center. Pickup can be up to 90 minutes before the flight, and the exact pickup time is confirmed after booking. Transfers from Aqaba and Petra are not included, and pickup from remote camps and hotels outside Wadi Rum costs extra. A 4×4 then drives you into the desert to that morning’s launch site, which the pilot chooses by the wind. While the crew inflates the balloon you have tea, coffee, water and biscuits, followed by a safety briefing in English. You then spend about an hour in the air in a shared balloon, more or less depending on the wind and where the pilot can land. The wind sets the route, so no rock formation is promised, but the listing describes red sandstone cliffs, canyons and rock arches, and you may see sandstone mountains and red sand lit by the rising sun.
