This is Bergen’s Hardangerfjord seaplane: about an hour in a Cessna 206 from the Sandviken pier. It is a shared flight for up to four passengers, and it goes ahead with at least three tickets booked. After lift-off you leave the city harbour behind and fly Hardangerfjord, Norway’s second-longest fjord. The turn brings Folgefonna into view, Norway’s third-largest glacier, about 1,700 metres high. You do not land on ice or on a fjord shore. The path is scenic only, then you return overhead the city centre and Fishmarket for a water landing at the same Sandviken base.
