Folgefonna reads from a Bergen seaplane as a pale ice field above the Hardanger country: high, broad, and cold even when the fjord water below looks mild. It is Norway’s third-largest glacier, about 1,700 metres high, and from the air it is the second subject of the longer Bergen flights after Hardangerfjord<\/a> itself. The ice holds its own colour against the green shelves and dark rock, which is why the longer tickets spend real minutes on this pass rather than a distant glance from the city circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You meet the ice properly on the shared Bergen Hardangerfjord and Folgefonna Glacier 60-Minute Seaplane Tour<\/a>: about 60 minutes in a Cessna 206, from NOK 4,650 per person. It is a shared flight for up to four passengers, and it goes ahead with at least three tickets booked; ages 2 and up. Live dates show when you book. The private Bergen Trolltunga, Hardangerfjord and Folgefonna 80-Minute Seaplane Tour<\/a> keeps Folgefonna on the path before Trolltunga<\/a> and Lake Ringedal, from NOK 22,233 per private flight for up to four. On both longer flights the glacier is a named beat, not an optional side view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 35-minute city circuit may show Folgefonna from a distance when the day is clear, but it is not a dedicated glacier pass. Treat that glimpse as optional weather luck, not a promise. When the glacier over Hardanger is why you came, the shared 60-minute ticket is built for it. When you also need the rock tongue from the air, step up to the private 80-minute circuit that continues past the ice to the ledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You do not land on the glacier, walk ice, or stop at a glacier tongue. No Bergen flightseeing flight lists an intermediate landing; you return to Sandviken for a water landing. Cloud and rain can blank the ice even when the city harbour is flyable, which is why the cancellation rules matter: full refund if weather cancels the flight, and full refund if you cancel at least 24 hours before. Hardangerfjord is the water corridor paired with this ice on the 60- and 80-minute tickets. Trolltunga and western Hardangervidda continue only on the private path. Weight rules are the same on all three Experiences: 340 kg total passengers and 120 kg per person; ages 2 and up. The aircraft is a Cessna 206 with four passenger seats plus pilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
