See the Colorado River from the air \u2014 a thin green-brown line at the bottom of the cut, the water that made the canyon, visible as a map instead of a glimpse from one overlook. From the rim you look down a mile. From the helicopter the river is a thread you can follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
South Rim and West Rim both show it, in different ways. The 25-minute Dancer and the 45-minute South Rim overflight look down on the river inside Grand Canyon National Park \u2014 air-only, no landing. West Rim flights from Las Vegas descend toward the river on Hualapai land: the deluxe and sunset tickets land on a private bluff about 300 feet above the water; the West Rim day trip lands on the rim and you see the river from Eagle Point and Guano Point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You do not raft and you do not land on the river. South Rim stays in the air. West Rim landings are a bluff or the rim, not a beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The extra of the West Rim landing is standing above the river. The extra of the 45-minute South Rim flight is more river upstream \u2014 Marble Canyon, where the canyon begins \u2014 not a landing. Stay on the South Rim if you are already there. Take a Las Vegas West Rim ticket if the floor or the rim stop is the point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Dragon Corridor<\/a> is the South Rim cut that holds this river. The West Rim landing<\/a> is the Hualapai bluff.
