Mount Tutoko is Fiordland\u2019s highest peak, rising in the ranges behind Milford Sound<\/a> inside Fiordland National Park<\/a>. From the valley floor it is a distant wall. From a scenic airplane on the Queenstown approach you pass Tutoko country \u2014 with glaciers such as Donne and Agnes named on fly-in copy \u2014 before the fiord and Mitre Peak<\/a>. The Milford Sound Big Five Glaciers 60-Minute Scenic Flight<\/a> reaches Tutoko country after Mount Aspiring<\/a> and the Big Five glacier corridor, then continues to an overhead of Milford Sound \u2014 60 minutes shared from NZ$656 per person, with no Milford landing and no cruise. It is the broadest air look at Tutoko and neighbouring ice on this hub. Aircraft are shared scenic flight in a Cessna Caravan \/ Cessna 208 class airplane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Milford Sound Flight and Cruise Tour<\/a> and Milford Sound Flight and Cruise with Lunch Tour<\/a> also fly Tutoko country on the way in, then land at Milford Sound Airport for a Nature Cruise (reserved seats; boat around 150) before returning via Arthur Valley \/ Sutherland Falls<\/a> \u2014 about 5 hours from NZ$892 without lunch or NZ$958 with picnic lunch and tea or coffee. No alpine snow or glacier landings are included; the only landing is the airport stop for the boat. Cruise guests may see Bowen Falls<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peak clarity depends on cloud. Fiordland weather cancels scenic flights often \u2014 keep dates flexible and expect rebook or refund options when a departure cannot operate. These flights remain Milford-focused from Queenstown and are not Aoraki, Fox, or Queenstown alpine-only hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meet at the scenic-flight base at #3 Tex Smith Lane, Frankton, in the Queenstown Airport precinct. Free car parking is available at the base. Hotel pickup from centrally located Queenstown hotels is offered on these bookings, or you can make your own way. Guests fly to Milford Sound from Queenstown \u2014 you do not meet at Milford village for these flights. The exact flight time is confirmed after booking. If you drive, plan to check in about 45 minutes before departure. Hotel pickup windows typically start earlier. Bring a warm jacket and a camera.
